800 V platforms accelerate as power electronics enters a new cycle

Electronic Engineering Album published its 2026 power electronics review on 8 October 2026, covering 800 V and medium-voltage SST, GaN in real operating conditions, SiC module reliability and xEV traction; China Economic Net reported on 9 October on further 800 V models entering the market.

Higher voltage platforms require re-validation of insulation structures, creepage distance, current carrying and temperature rise for busbars and connectors, and make process selection for injection moulded and laminated busbars more dependent on early joint design.
