AI computing boom exposes a copper supply gap

Futu reported on 22 September 2026 that as AI compute investment accelerates, power infrastructure has become a bottleneck; the view that "AI ends in power and power runs through copper" has become one of the market consensus views, with some capital positioning for the resulting resource gap.

Data centre power distribution, cabinet busbars and busbars are direct beneficiaries: as power per rack rises, current-carrying cross-sections, voltage drop and temperature rise are redesigned, lifting both the volume and specification of busbars and connectors.
